There has on an international level been established a CIFG group (Counter ISIL Financing Group), where the Danish representative is the Ministry for External Affairs. The main scope with the CIFG Group is to prevent ISIL financing, whereas financial institutes plays a main role in the fight against that the financial system is abused to financing terrorism.
At the CIFG Group’s latest meeting in April 2016, it was informed that Iraq has identified 150 ISIL related money remittance providers and exchange offices. The Central Bank of Iraq has in addition to this closed the access for exchange offices to doing business concerning foreign exchange and published a list over these suppliers at their website.
The Danish FSA shall in light of above request that all financial institutions are particularly attentive not to get involved in transactions regarding ISIL related money remittance providers and exchange offices.
